Fertiliser machine without corrosion

Powerful and low-maintenance fertiliser machine with igubal spherical bearings.

This fertiliser machine works reliably and without loss of fertiliser thanks to an agitator shaft. Due to the enormous corrosive properties of the fertiliser, conventional ball bearings always had to be heavily lubricated, which was cumbersome due to the narrow box structure. Since igubal spherical bearings were introduced, this time-consuming maintenance work has no longer been necessary. Costs are also saved as it is no longer necessary to lubricate the bearings.

Profile

  • What was needed: igubal spherical bearingsRequirementsAs the fertiliser is highly corrosive, it needed a permanently corrosion-resistant bearing. The bearings also had to be able to align themselves in order to avoid the eccentric inclined resistance of the two bearings.
  • Industry: Agriculture
  • Success for the customer: The igubal spherical bearings do not rust and no lubrication is required as the bearings are self-lubricating. This eliminates the need for expensive and cumbersome rubber seals as used by the customer in the previous solution. Overall, this has improved product performance and reduced manufacturing costs.

Problem

An agitator shaft is attached to the fertiliser hoppers to prevent loss of fertiliser. This shaft had to be attached to the two shaft walls with bearings at both ends, which presented a few challenges.
The fertiliser has a strong corrosive effect on all components in the system, meaning that the bearing assembly had to constantly be able to cope with this without any problems. When conventional ball bearings were used, rubber seals had to be used, which complicated the mechanism and made lubrication more difficult.
As the fertiliser box is a welded construction, the bearings used must also be able to align themselves in order to avoid the eccentric inclined resistance of the two bearings.

Solution

For the bearing assembly, those responsible decided to use igubal bearings, specifically igubal spherical bearings of type EFGM-16T. Since the spherical bearings were introduced, the problems of the previous solution are a thing of the past. Thanks to their corrosion resistance, they do not rust and no lubrication is required as the bearings are self-lubricating. No separate rubber seals are required, so the solution is particularly simple. Overall, this has improved product performance and reduced manufacturing costs. In addition, the user also saves running costs, as maintenance is no longer required. Overall, the user benefits from a convenient and problem-free product experience.
