Hot cutting

This device cuts figures and elements out of polystyrene blocks. The cut is performed by a hot wire which moves vertically. The material to be cut is moved horizontally. The developers used igus® polymer plain bearings and drylin® aluminium shafts for the movement mechanisms, since these are all easy to install and promise a long service life without appreciable wear.
