The energy generation by means of hydropower offers enormous future potential, since the average energy density is five times higher than with wind power and ten times higher than with solar cells. Thus, the energy supply system meets the requirements for reliable operation without maintenance over five years, and mechanical resistance to the highly dynamic shaft movements in the vertical and horizontal directions. In addition, it does not require a large amount of installation space, and is very light compared to metallic alternatives.
