Problem

For 20 years, SATIXI, a French company, has been developing, producing, installing, and maintaining access control and security systems to secure infrastructures and protect personnel and property. The systems are remarkable for their innovation, quality, and durability.

These are fast, self-supporting sliding gates for security areas. It is especially important that they have wear-resistant components that guarantee a high level of dependability. The sliding gates were to be used outdoors, so the energy supply also had to guarantee a high level of reliability even in rain, snow, fog, frost, and heat. In addition, the speed is between 0.4 and 0.8 metres per second, and the travel distance is between 4 and 30 metres.

Solution

In cooperation with igus®, the SATIXI designers chose the micro flizz® MF06 for guiding energy and data cables. The energy supply system has received the iF Design award and is especially wear-resistant for the following reason: The upper and lower run of the chain move in an aluminium housing and therefore do not have to rest on top of each other. Their wear is correspondingly low. Even after a million double strokes and a distance of 6,000 kilometres covered, virtually no wear is visible. micro flizz® also guarantees a high level of reliability for the gate, which must function in all sorts of weather.
The micro flizz® energy chain system consists of chainflex® CF9.05.07 cables, an energy chain made of high-performance plastic, and an aluminium housing. The system securely delivers data, energy, and media in extremely tight spaces. micro flizz® is also quick to install, and sliding doors require fewer maintenance deployments because no cleaning is necessary.
